I can’t believe the year is over. 2018 flew by! With that being said, there were a few things I wish I had done differently during the year. I didn’t manage my stress well, and I tended to ignore my own self-care. I successfully completed the Whole30 in September 2018, and I learned a lot about how stress and food can affect me not only physically but also mentally and emotionally. During September, I also did a lot of self-care. I focused on doing things that relieve stress, made me feel better in order to do my work more efficiently, and overall take time to focus on myself. However, after September was over I went back to my old ways.
I’ve decided that 2019 will be my year of self-care. My New Year’s Resolution will be to devote a minimum of 30 minutes a day doing something to better myself in some way, shape, or form. I think I might even create a calendar of something to do each day of the month.
Here are a few examples I thought of:
- Take a no social media day
- Take a relaxing bath
- Listen to my favorite podcast
- Read a book
- Practice yoga
- Play with my dog
- Go for a walk outside
- Reflect on things that make me happy and write them down
- Do a new exercise routine
- Try making a new recipe from a cookbook (and of course if it turns out good proceed to post to social media)
These are just a few examples, but I think it is something that I will look forward to every day. Today’s world can make it easy to get lost in the stress of everyday tasks, but it’s important to not lose yourself in the process. I think 2019 will be a year full of promise, and I can’t wait to see what awaits. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break and cheers to the new year!Back to Blog
