Meet Lily, GPP Intern!

Hello Internet! My name is Lily Gilleland and I am thrilled to be a part of the GPP team this spring! I am originally from the city of Ball Ground in north Georgia and I moved to Kennesaw and eventually Marietta while going to Kennesaw State University. I have two adorable cats, Snickers and Toblerone, and they are probably the only things I would talk about in this blog if given the chance! I am set to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education this May.

Ever since I was little, I’ve only ever wanted to help people. This mindset of “must help” got me interested in the nursing program at KSU but I soon found myself more interested in learning about the people who are sick rather than the cells that make them sick. This revelation led me to the Public Health Education major. Moving forward with my “helping people” attitude, I found many community engagement opportunities and eventually the chance to work with the Georgia Prevention Project.

While I still work part-time as both a pharmacy technician and an Apron’s Cook at Publix, I am eager to see the kind of work I will be able to do with GPP over the next few months!

Nice to meet you! I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
