New DFC Coordinator, Vann!

My Name is Vann Blankenship and a long time native of West Georgia. I am a 2008 graduate of Haralson County Highschool in Tallapoosa, Georgia. In 2017 after struggling with substance use and mental health challenges, I sought to use my experiences to help others. This led me to obtain my credential as a Certified Peer Specialist in Mental Health through the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network. Later, I received clinical training as an addiction counselor at Highland Rivers Health, a community service board in Northwest Georgia. During my training I obtained credentials as a Whole Health Wellness Coach and HIV Early Intervention Specialist. Since joining the mental health field I have successfully managed over $3 million in grant projects focusing on substance use. I am excited to join GPP as the Program Coordinator for Drug-Free Communities – Polk Against Drugs Coalition. As the coordinator I will provide support in strengthening the coalition’s efforts within Polk County, focusing on prevention education and youth development! I am excited to be joining the GPP team!
